ABOUT

ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Nicola and I am a qualified integrative counsellor.

I have a grown-up family and live in the Cheshire West/Wirral area.

There are times when we all need support, a listening ear, and somewhere to vent and share our frustrations. We may try to deal with our issues alone or with the help of friends and family, however, sometimes we may need professional support.

I understand how important it is to have a safe place for you to share your feelings and to help you find a way to explore and work through the issues and challenges that may be causing you anxiety, depression or general unrest. However, feeling this way can result in you experiencing emotional and mental distress and may even be having a physical impact on you. Taking the first step to getting that support can be nerve-racking; however, you can be assured that when you contact me, you will receive a warm, empathic welcome free from judgement.

EXPERIENCE

I have two years experience of counselling in an agency setting, two years mentoring children and adolescents in a high school and six years supporting vulnerable adults in a health and social care role based in the community.

WHAT IS INTEGRATIVE COUNSELLING?

Integrative counselling means I use a blend of therapeutic models tailored to your needs. This includes

Person Centred Therapy

Person Centred therapy is a talking therapy that puts you at the centre of your own healing. You are able to freely share, vent and explore the issues that are causing you hurt, confusion, pain and distress.

Psychodynamic

Psychodynamic therapy looks at past experiences and how they may be affecting you in the present. It is a talking therapy that enables you to explore issues and recognise unhealthy patterns of behaviour that may be causing you distress.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a therapy that helps you look at your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and helps you to find different perspectives. It is a structured therapy which requires commitment and works toward specific goals.
